The "Long-Termism" of a Pipe: Part 1

In the plastic piping industry, PVC-O pipe is widely recognized as the "ceiling" of the PVC pipe family — higher strength, better toughness, and lower material consumption. Yet Baosu understood early on a simple truth: the product itself has never been the real barrier. Competitors can imitate the formulation and replicate the production lines in far less time. What truly allows a company to "hold its ground, sell its products, and go global" is the ability to distill technology into rules.

So Baosu chose a harder road: long-termism.

Thirty Years, Focused on a Single Thing

Members of the core team of Baosu have been working in the PVC pipe manufacturing industry for over 30 years. Since the 1990s, they have been paying attention to PVC-O pipes, a material that was still unknown at the time. In 2002, core team members of Baosu officially initiated the research and development of PVC-O and PVC-M pipes; In 2006, the research and development of two types of pipes achieved phased results, and the first transitional product PVC-M pipe was launched in China, with significantly improved toughness compared to PVC-U pipes - but they knew in their hearts that this was still far from true PVC-O pipes.

It was not until 2014 that Baosu formally transformed its R&D achievements regarding PVC-O pipes into actual production capacity,  launching its PVC-O pipes to market and starting commercial production.

Twelve years of R&D, followed by more than ten years of industrialization — this was a road with no "quick money" to be made. Yet it was precisely this patience that later carried Baosu to a height that few others could ever reach.
