3 Developing China’s PVC-O Pipes National Standards

　　In November 2018, the National Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China issued the plan for the national standard “Oriented Unplasticized Poly(Vinyl Chloride)(PVC-O) Pipes and Joints for the Conveyance of Water Under Pressure,” with Hebei Construction & Investment Baosu Pipe Industry Co., Ltd. as the lead drafter. In 2022, GB/T 41422-2022 “Oriented Unplasticized Poly(Vinyl Chloride)(PVC-O) Pipes and Joints for the Conveyance of Water Under Pressure” was officially released and implemented. The Implementation of the PVC-O National Standard would benefit the standardization of the PVC-O pipe and joints manufacturing industry and promote the application and popularization of PVC-O water-supply pipe and joints. A milestone of China’s PVC-O pipes industrialization development!

　　Even earlier, in 2016, Baosu as one of the drafting leaders drafted“Technical Specification for Buried Biaxially Oriented Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC-O) Pipeline of Water Supply Engineering”, which was published in 2021 as T/CECS 815-2021.This technical specification provided guidelines for the construction programs using buried biaxial oriented polyvinyl chloride (PVC-O) pipeline. To achieve the advancement of the tech of the pipe, to secure the safety and be applicable for programs, to economize the cost of the purchaser, and to maintain and improve the high-quality of the pipe in construction.

　　In the field of irrigation, Baosu took the initiative to propose two group standards to the China Irrigation Districts Association. At the end of 2023, T/CIDA 0022-2023 “Biaxially Oriented Unplasticized Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC-O) Pipes for Irrigation” and T/CIDA 0023-2023 “Code for design and construction of biaxial oriented unplasticized poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC-O) pipeline for irrigation” were released simultaneously, taking effect in March 2024. These standards for PVC-O pipes used in irrigation provides a solid basis for the application of PVC-O pipes in the irrigation sector. It will facilitate the standardization of the production industry for PVC-O pipes and fittings used in irrigation, as well as promote the widespread adoption of PVC-O pipes and fittings in irrigation applications.

　　From water supply to irrigation, from national standards to group standards, Baosu has turned the experience it gained on its own path into a yardstick shared by the entire industry.
