The Agang Reservoir project in Luoping County, Yunnan, involved the relocation of rural communities due to rising water levels. A dedicated drinking water system was constructed to serve three resettlement sites. The pipeline traverses rugged mountainous terrain, where rocky subsurface conditions complicated excavation and installation.

The system uses DN200 and DN160 PVC-O pipes, operating under gravity flow at 1.6 MPa. To address elevation changes and prevent air pockets or excessive pressure, five automatic air-release valves and one pressure-reducing valve were installed along the 12 km route.

PVC-O pipes were selected for their light weight and ease of installation in difficult terrain. Flexible rubber-gasket joints and concrete thrust blocks were used at bends and slopes to ensure stability. Despite the complex environment, the pipeline was completed efficiently, providing reliable water supply to the resettled communities.
